Microalgae producer in Vietnam
Products
- Star Algae products marketed in Vietnam is live microalgae, making them identical to their natural forms. No other feed on the market is live microalgae and all of our competitors can claim is being a replacement and supplement live microalgae.
- We produce live, whole-cell, whole-food microalgae feeds and enrichments from marine and freshwater algae using proprietary processes integrating photovoltaic panels and grow led lights.
- Our products provide fish, bivalve and shrimp hatcheries with clean, convenient, long shelf-life and live feeds that are superior choices by far.
- Our live microalgae, without needing any dilution or defrosting processes, make the use of revolutionary Green Water Technology in aqua ponds possible for the first time ever in Vietnam.
- The benefits of this technology have been shown for fish species, shrimp, mollusks and crustaceans. The method consists of adding live algae in the water during larvae culture and growouts ponds.
- The beneficial effects of green water are mainly: a direct food source through active uptake, stimulation of the non-specific immune system in the larvae, action as a probiotic, increase in contrast to reveal preys, microbial control by algal exudates in tank water and/or larval gut, etc.
- In order to ship products to longer distances such as export markets or extend shelf life to more than one year, Star Algae Live Microalgae slurry go through a very sensitive additional process to maintain its nutrient value and cell integrity to ensure they still serve as one to one replacement of live algae.
- The additional process converts Star Algae Live Slurry to Star Algae Paste by sensitively contributing to the removal of 99.5% of the water from the initial biomass. At the following phases, The Star Algae Paste may be shipped cryogenically frozen or chilled based on the customers’ specifications.
- Solagron produces algae paste so that the quality is maintained for longer periods and in further distances. The whole-cell algae in paste form are non or semi-viable but intact, retaining all their nutritional value, with no need to hydrate.
- The benefits of biosecurity, pathogen-free and cleanliness, flexibility of usage and availability of the Star Algae Paste designates it as a preferred choice in export markets and northern Vietnam markets.
- We prepared our Freeze-Dried Powder line. Freeze drying and lyophilization are synonymous.
- Freeze drying is a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials, to extend shelf life or make the material more convenient for transport.
- Freeze drying works by freezing the material, then reducing the pressure and adding heat to allow the frozen water in the material to sublimate.
- The aim of freeze-drying algae is to obtain a readily water-soluble algae which have the same characteristics as the original product after the readdition of water.
- Freeze drying is often considered the “Gold Standard” of dehydration and drying processes in terms of overall quality.
Star Algae products marketed in Vietnam are live microalgae, identical to their natural forms. No other feed on the market is live microalgae. We are sure that all of our competitors would have to admit our live microalgae can be used as replacement and supplement for aquaculture feed.
In order to transport the products to the export market or requiring an extended shelf life of more than 1 year, Star Algae Live Microalgae undergo a critically sensitive additional process to maintain its nutrient value and cell integrity to ensure they still serve as a one to one replacement of live algae.
We have also prepared our Freeze-Dried Powder line. Lyophilization – commonly known as freeze drying – is a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials with the intention to extend shelf life or make the material more convenient for transport.
Benefits Of Microalgae
Did you know that microalgae has the potential to revolutionize our lives? Beyond providing valuable nutrition for human consumption, these microscopic organisms can be used to create biofuel, nutraceuticals and supplements, and even food for aquaculture. Microalgae is truly a multi-faceted resource for a variety of sustainable industries. Let’s take a look at the various ways microalgae can be utilized in our world today.
Biofuel production is one of the most prominent and researched uses of microalgae. They can be used to create biodiesel, methane and ethanol, which are renewable and are an alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
Microalgae are also widely used to create nutraceuticals and supplements like omega-3 fatty acids, proteins, and vitamins. These compounds have been found to have a whole range of potential health benefits, such as improved digestion, lowered cholesterol, and boosted muscle strength.
Lastly, microalgae are often used to feed fish, shrimp and other aquatic species due to its high nutrient content. This ensures that aquaculture populations remain healthy and well-fed.
Microalgae truly is an amazing and multi-faceted resource.

What Are The Biggest Advantages Of Freeze Dried Microalgae?
Microalgae are well-known for the many different compounds they can produce. They are highly acclaimed for their high levels of poly-unsaturated fatty acids and potent antioxidants. Furthermore, they are an abundant source of carbohydrates, proteins, essential amino acids, vitamins and trace elements. Additionally, they possess antibacterial, antiviral and/or immune-stimulatory activity. While microalgae have several health and nutritional values, they can be cultivated sustainably with immense productivity. In conclusion, microalgae are the feedstock of the future.
Reduces cultivation crashes in production
Our Thala*Star freeze dried algae is a valuable tool in the cultivation of your culture. With Star Algae, you can exclude the possibility of your rotifers, shrimp larvae and bivalve culture collapsing due to crashes from improper feeds.
Avoids pathogen contamination risk
On the spot production of algae holds great risk for pathogen contamination. In house algae cultures are a major vehicle for Vibrio and pathogenic ciliates. Using live algae does not allow you to properly check for such contamination prior to feeding.
Our production facilities do not source liquid medium from natural surface saltwater and other potential pathogen reservoirs such as aquaculture hatcheries since we are not located in close proximity of them. There are no fish, shrimp, shellfish or other aquatic organisms grown at or in the vicinity of our production facilities.
Star Algae are further produced under the most stringently controlled conditions and continuously checked for the presence of pathogens.
Consist of premium nutritional quality
Nutritional quality is our number one concern. Thalas*algae microalgae are grown under optimized circumstances to guarantee a consistently high quality (high PUFA content, lipid profile and other beneficial compounds). They are continuously controlled for quality and purity, and only released when all specifications are met. Processing by freeze drying also ensures that the nutritional profile remains unchanged throughout the storage period.
